Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 August 2026

iPixel Media LLC ("we") operates the Project Radio app and projectradio.net. This explains what we do with information about you. It is written to meet the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and US state privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

The short version

  • We do not ask you to create an account to listen.
  • We do not request your location.
  • Your favourites and listening history stay on your device.
  • We do not sell personal data.

What we collect, and why

On your device only

Your favourites, your recently played stations, your chosen colour scheme and the last song we saw for a station are stored on your device. We cannot see them, and clearing the app's data removes them.

The country your device is set to

We read the region your phone or computer is configured for — not your location. It is used to decide which stations we may offer you, because music rights are granted country by country.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests — we cannot lawfully operate the directory without it. For users in California, this constitutes our disclosure that we collect device region for the business purpose of providing our service.

When you play a station

Your device connects directly to the station's server. That station, and its hosting provider, will see your IP address. We do not control this and it is no different from opening the station's own website.

We ask our own service which song a station is playing. That request contains the station's stream address and nothing that identifies you.

Advertising

The app shows advertising through Google AdMob. AdMob may use an advertising identifier to select and measure ads. You can reset or limit that identifier in your device settings, and Android and iOS both let you opt out of personalised advertising.

Lawful basis: consent where required; otherwise legitimate interests. Google's policy: policies.google.com/technologies.

Accounts

Accounts are not required to listen. If you create an account, we collect your email address so your favourites can follow you between devices. You can delete your account and everything in it from within the app.

The website

projectradio.net uses cookies necessary for it to function. If we add analytics or advertising cookies we will ask first, as required by the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and applicable US state laws.

What we do not do

  • We do not request or store location data.
  • We do not record, store or listen to audio.
  • We do not sell personal data.
  • We do not build advertising profiles ourselves.

We use no other processors for personal data. If that changes, this page changes first.

How long we keep things

  • On-device data: until you clear it.
  • Server logs for the now-playing service: 30 days.
  • Takedown correspondence: kept as a record of what we were told and did.
  • Account data: while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information.
  • Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

How to exercise your rights

Write to privacy@projectradio.net and we will respond within one month (or within the shorter period required by applicable law). You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.

Children

Project Radio is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything about them. The directory includes stations of every kind, including some with adult content, and we do not verify what a station broadcasts.

International data transfers

iPixel Media LLC is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. For transfers from the UK or EU, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent legal mechanisms to provide adequate protection.

Changes

If we change this materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
