Copyright and Takedown

Last updated: 11 August 2026

Project Radio is a directory. We list publicly available internet radio streams and connect listeners to them.

We do not host, store, record or rebroadcast any audio. When you listen, the audio travels from the station's own server to your device. We do not sit in the middle of it, and there is no copy of it on our systems.

We have no recording feature and will not add one. You cannot capture, download or save a broadcast through Project Radio.

Where our listings come from

Our catalogue draws on public sources — Radio Browser (public domain) and the Icecast public directory — together with our own corrections and health checking. See our sources page for full details.

Territory restrictions

Music rights are granted country by country. A station licensed to broadcast in one country is not automatically licensed to be heard in another.

In territories where the law requires it, we restrict the music stations we offer to those licensed for that territory. Speech stations — news, talk, sport, religious programming — carry no licensed sound recordings and are unaffected.

We determine a listener's territory from the region their device is set to. We do not request or collect location data.

If you are a station and want to be removed

You do not need to give a reason, prove ownership, or send a formal notice. Ask and we will remove you.

Email takedown@projectradio.net with the station name and stream address. We aim to remove listings within two working days.

If you would rather stay listed but something is wrong — the name, the logo, the description — tell us and we will fix it.

DMCA notices

iPixel Media LLC respects the intellectual property rights of others and responds to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512.

If you believe that material available through Project Radio infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown request. A proper DMCA notice must include:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing — the station name and stream address is sufficient.
  4. Your contact information, including your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

Send DMCA notices to our designated copyright agent:

DMCA Agent

Email: takedown@projectradio.net

We will act on a complete notice within five working days. In practice we will usually simply delist the station rather than argue, because we have no interest in listing anything that should not be there.

Repeat infringement

A station that is the subject of repeated valid notices is removed from the directory permanently, not temporarily. In appropriate circumstances, we will also terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers.

Counter-notice

If your station was removed and you believe that was wrong — for example because you hold a licence for the territory concerned, or you believe the material was removed in error — you may submit a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3). Write to takedown@projectradio.net with evidence and we will restore the listing.

UK and EU takedown

For users in the UK and EU, the same takedown process applies. You do not need to use the DMCA format — a plain request identifying the station and the rights you hold is sufficient. We will act on it within the same timeframe.
